Marshall has gone a perfect 3-0 against Arcola recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Lions will be playing in front of their home fans against the Purple Riders at 4:30 p.m. Marshall is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.9 runs per game this season.
Marshall took a loss when they played away from home on Monday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. They never let Dieterich get on the board and left with a 16-0 victory. The Lions haven't had any issues with the Movin Maroons recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive win against them.
Avery Cornwell made a splash while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over four innings pitched. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two runs.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on McKenzie Davis, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April. Another player making a difference was Klaire York, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI and one run.
Marshall always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .704. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Dieterich only posted an OBP of .143.
Meanwhile, Monday just wasn't the day for Arcola's offense. They came up short against Argenta-Oreana on Monday, falling 10-0. The Purple Riders have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Marshall's victory bumped their record up to 22-3. As for Arcola, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-20.
Arcola's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Marshall hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .380. It's a different story for Arcola, though, as they've only averaged .252. Will they be able to contain Marshall's hitters?
Marshall got the 'W' in their previous matchup back in May of 2024 against Arcola by a conclusive 19-0 score. Do the Lions have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Purple Riders turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
