Baseball Recap: Cranberry Area Comes Up Short

Cranberry Area extended their losing streak to four on Monday, dropping them down to 5-6-1. They lost 9-0 to the Redbank Valley Bulldogs. The game marked the first time this season in which the Berries were not able to get on the board.

As for Redbank Valley, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 11-4. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.7 runs on average over those games.

For Redbank Valley's part, Braylon Wagner made a big impact no matter where he played. He kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 13 over six innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts Wagner has posted since back in April of 2025. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double.

In other batting news, Brock George was excellent, going 2-for-4 with four RBI and one run. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March of 2025. Another player making a difference was Wyatt Byers, who got on base in two of his three plate appearances with three stolen bases and one run.

Looking ahead, Cranberry Area will square off against Union City at 4:15 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Redbank Valley, they will head out on the road to challenge North Clarion at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Wolves have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 10.92 runs per game on average), something the Bulldogs will no doubt try to take advantage of.
