Basketball Recap: Make It Three in a Row for Mater Dei

If Waterloo wanted to avenge their loss from the last time they played Mater Dei, they should've done a better job of containing Marlee Loepker. The Mater Dei Knights enjoyed a cozy 62-43 victory over the Waterloo Bulldogs on Wednesday thanks in part to Loepker, who went 5 for 7 on her way to 13 points and five steals. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in assists (three).

The win (which was Mater Dei's third in a row) raised their record to 8-3. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 57.3 points per game. As for Waterloo, they now have a losing record at 5-6.

When Mater Dei and Waterloo next hit the court, they'll be up against teams who recently just can't seem to lose. Mater Dei will try to stop Father McGivney Catholic's four-game winning streak when the meet at 5:00 p.m. on Saturday. Similarly, Waterloo will try to stop Civic Memorial's ten-game winning streak when the meet at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
