Basketball Recap: Ryder Murphy and Breylan Harris Secure Win for Chatham Charter

Chatham Charter won the last time they faced Cornerstone Charter and things went their way on Tuesday too. The Knights strolled past the Cardinals with points to spare, taking the game 61-47. That 14 point margin sets a new team best for the Knights this season.

Leading Chatham Charter to victory were Breylan Harris and Ryder Murphy. Harris shot 69% from the field on his way to 21 points and seven boards, while Murphy posted 14 points in addition to seven steals and five assists. Thanks to that strong game, Harris now owns an excellent 48.6% field goal percentage. The team also got some help courtesy of Kymani Wagner-Jatta, who put up four points and seven steals.

They weren't the only ones working in the assist department: Chatham Charter was working as a unit and finished the game with 16 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Cornerstone Charter only racked up nine.

Despite the defeat, Cornerstone Charter had strong showings from Jackson Shaffrey, who dropped a double-double with 15 points and ten rebounds, and Charles Walker, who earned nine points and eight boards. Walker is also on a roll when it comes to shooting accuracy, as he's posted one of at least 50% in the last five games he's played dating back to last season. Lake Bristol was another key player, going 5-for-10 to rack up 14 points and eight rebounds.

The victory got Chatham Charter back to even at 3-3. As for Cornerstone Charter, their record now sits at 1-1.

Looking ahead, Chatham Charter will take on Uwharrie Charter Academy at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Cornerstone Charter, they and River Mill will face off at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday without much rest, having both just played.
