Baseball Game Preview: Grand Forks Central Knights vs. Stevens Raiders

The Grand Forks Central Knights will take on the Stevens Raiders in a tournament on Saturday. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Grand Forks Central's pitching crew heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. They came out on top against Madison by a score of 5-0. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Knights.

The result came thanks to Brody Leddige's shutout, as he gave up just a hit and racked up seven Ks.

At the plate, Grand Forks Central let Nolan Marto and Zeke Zimmerman run wild. Marto went 2-for-4 with one triple, one stolen base, and two RBI, while Zimmerman went a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases and two runs. Keegan Hensrud was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.

Meanwhile, it was close, but on Friday Stevens sidestepped Roosevelt for a 5-4 victory.

Stevens also got a great performance from Conor Konvalin as he struck out 11 batters over five innings while giving up three earned runs off three hits.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Karter Brager, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI and one run. Another player making a difference was Tucker Waddell, who went 2-for-4 with two runs.

Stevens kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in six consecutive games.

Grand Forks Central's record is now 2-0. As for Stevens, their record now sits at 5-2-1.
