Baseball Recap: American Canyon Comes Up Short

American Canyon extended their losing streak to five on Thursday, dropping them down to 5-11. They came up short against the Petaluma Trojans, falling 9-2. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Trojans this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 15-5 on Tuesday.

American Canyon saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Andre Lopez, who went 1-for-3 with one run.

As for Petaluma, they pushed their record up to 13-3 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home. The result was nothing new for the Trojans, who have now won six matchups by seven runs or more so far this season.

On Petaluma's side, the team relied heavily on Aiden Jones, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. Those four RBI gave Jones a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Rowan Ball, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. American Canyon will venture away from home to face off against Justin-Siena at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Petaluma, they will head out to take on Marin Catholic at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Trojans 3.9, the Wildcats 3.9) so any runs scored will be well earned.
