Softball Game Preview: Tarkington Longhorns vs. Hamshire-Fannett Longhorns

Tarkington will challenge Hamshire-Fannett at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Tarkington has given up an average of 11.6 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week.

Tarkington is headed into Tuesday's matchup looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their third straight game on Tuesday. They lost 20-5 to Shepherd.

Meanwhile, Hamshire-Fannett earned a 5-1 victory over Shepherd on Friday. The Longhorns haven't had any issues with the Pirates recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive win against them.

Jade Hill spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on six hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season.

On the hitting side, Brooke Mayer was excellent, scoring a run while going 3-for-4.

Hamshire-Fannett pushed their record up to 13-11-2 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. As for Tarkington, their loss dropped their record down to 2-12.

Everything went Tarkington's way against Hamshire-Fannett in their previous matchup back in February of 2019, as Tarkington made off with an 8-1 win. Will Tarkington repeat their success, or does Hamshire-Fannett have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
