Baseball Game Preview: Walker Wolverines vs. Whitefield Academy WolfPack

The Walker Wolverines will head out on the road to face off against the Whitefield Academy WolfPack at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Walker will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak.

Walker is headed into the contest having just posted their closest win since May 6, 2024 on Monday. They skirted past The Weber School 5-4. Five seems to be a good number for the Wolverines as the team scooped up a victory with the same number of runs in their previous game.

Jonathan Griggs was excellent, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one double. Walker is 3-1 when Griggs posts two or more stolen bases, but 4-8 otherwise. David Griggs was another key player, going 1-for-2 with one triple and one RBI.

Meanwhile, while Whitefield Academy put up plenty of runs on Monday, the same can't be said for St. Francis. Everything went Whitefield Academy's way against St. Francis as Whitefield Academy made off with a 12-0 win. Considering the WolfPack have won four games by more than six runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

The victory made it two in a row for Whitefield Academy and bumps their season record up to 8-5. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Walker, their record is now 7-9.

Walker couldn't quite get it done against Whitefield Academy when the teams last played back in February of 2021 as they fell 9-6. Can Walker avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
