Basketball Game Preview: Potts Camp Cardinals vs. Ashland Blue Devils + Official Tickets

Potts Camp is preparing for their first district matchup of the season on Tuesday. They will venture away from home to square off against the Ashland Blue Devils at 6:00 p.m. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Having struggled with four losses in a row, Potts Camp turned things around against Mantachie on Thursday. They snuck past the Mustangs with a 54-48 win.

Mariah Jeffries was her usual excellent self, dropping a double-double with 29 points and 12 boards. Her big performance that evening made it four games in a row in which she has scored at least 15 points. Another player making a difference was Akira Woods, who dropped a double-double with 11 points and 14 rebounds.

Potts Camp smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 23 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 15 offensive rebounds in three consecutive matchups.

Meanwhile, Ashland hadn't done well against Byhalia recently (they were 1-6 in their previous seven matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. The Blue Devils managed a 34-28 victory over the Indians.

Potts Camp picked up their first home win, bumping their record up to 2-7. As for Ashland, they picked up their first home victory, bumping their record up to 2-9.

Potts Camp skirted past Ashland 43-40 when the teams last played back in December of 2022. Will the Cardinals repeat their success, or do the Blue Devils have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
