Recap: ASPIRA Charter Wolves vs. String Theory
The ASPIRA Charter Wolves struggled with offensive rebounds on Friday (String Theory had 15 more) and sadly the final score reflected it. ASPIRA Charter fell 62-52 to String Theory. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as ASPIRA Charter came into the game with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps's basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 45th in Delaware, while String Theory is ranked 441st in Pennsylvania).
Several Wolves players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Cristian Cotto, who dropped a double-double on ten points and ten rebounds. Those ten rebounds set a new season-high mark for him. Another player making a difference was Zy'aire Gibson, who scored 18 points along with six rebounds and four steals.
String Theory's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jason Pezzetti, who dropped a double-double on 21 points and 11 rebounds. The match was Pezzetti's fifth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Justus Robertson, who scored 22 points along with three steals.
This is the second loss in a row for ASPIRA Charter and nudges their season record down to 3-5. As for String Theory, the victory got them back to even at 5-5.
ASPIRA Charter will head out on the road to face off against Odyssey Charter at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for String Theory, they will look to defend their home court on Thursday against Frankford at 3:45 p.m. Hopefully Frankford focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 18 on Wednesday.
