Soccer Game Preview: Mullen vs. Loveland Classical

The Mullen Mustangs will venture away from home to challenge the Loveland Classical Lions at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.

Things were looking good for Mullen after they put the first goal on the board on Thursday, but unfortunately for them things went downhill from there. They fell just short of Cherokee Trail by a score of 2-1. The defeat continues a trend for Mullen in their meetings with Cherokee Trail: they've now lost three in a row.

Meanwhile, Loveland Classical entered their tilt with Dawson School on Friday with nine consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with ten. They never let the Mustangs get on the board and left with a 6-0 win. Loveland Classical might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine games by five goals or more this season.

Their offense was hitting Dawson School from everywhere, as five different players booted in a goal. Kaelyn Doan led that balanced group of strikers and accounted for two goals all by herself.

Loveland Classical pushed their record up to 12-2 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 34 goals over those five matches. As for Mullen, they now have a losing record of 5-6-1.
