Volleyball Game Preview: Independence Blue Devils vs. Columbia Raiders

The Independence Blue Devils will square off against the Columbia Raiders at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.

Last Thursday, Independence came up short against Archbishop Hoban and fell 3-1. The Blue Devils haven't had much luck with the Knights recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.

Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-18, 25-21, 23-25, 25-9.

Defeat or not, Independence got some senior leadership from Sofia Pichert and Madelyn Mudra. Pichert had 17 digs and two aces, while Mudra had 11 digs and two aces. Pichert is on a roll when it comes to aces, as she's now served two or more in each of the last three games she's played.

Meanwhile, with a playoff win on the line, Columbia rose to the challenge on Tuesday. They walked away with a 3-1 victory over the Knights. The win was familiar territory for the Raiders, who have now won three contests in a row.

The final score came out to 25-14, 25-27, 25-13, 25-19.

Independence's loss dropped their record down to 15-6. As for Columbia, their victory bumped their record up to 13-10.
