Baseball Game Preview: Bothell Cougars vs. Lake Washington Kangaroos

The Bothell Cougars will venture away from home to square off against the Lake Washington Kangaroos at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Lake Washington took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Bothell, who comes in off a win.

If Bothell beats Lake Washington with five runs on Monday, it's going to be the squad's new lucky number: they've won their past two games with that exact score. The Cougars came out on top against Juanita by a score of 5-2 on Friday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Cougars.

Bothell got a great performance from Jarrett Tyler as he tossed 4.1 innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off three hits. What's more, Tyler posted four strikeouts, the most he's had since back in March.

At the plate, Gavin McClaren was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two RBI and one double. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April of 2025. Braeden Fischer was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and one run.

Union hit Lake Washington with a six-run second inning on Saturday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Kangaroos lost 13-2 to the Titans. The pitching woes were uncharacteristic for the Kangaroos, who until this matchup were averaging four runs allowed.

Lake Washington is on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 11-4. As for Bothell, the win got them back to even at 7-7.
