Basketball Recap: Hillsdale Gets Big Victory over Higher-Ranked Sacred Heart Cathedral Preparatory

Hillsdale hadn't done well against Sacred Heart Cathedral Preparatory recently (they were 0-3 in their previous three matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. The Hillsdale FIGHTING KNIGHTS secured a 55-51 W over the Sacred Heart Cathedral Preparatory Fightin' Irish. The win was all the more spectacular given the FIGHTING KNIGHTS's disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 468th, while the Fightin' Irish are ranked 151st).

Sacred Heart Cathedral Preparatory's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Michael Sargent, who posted eight points and ten rebounds, and Isayah Kennedy, who went 6 of 13 on his way to 12 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Tiyon Williams, who had four points.

The victory got Hillsdale back to even at 5-5. As for Sacred Heart Cathedral Preparatory, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 7-3.

Hillsdale wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 51-47 loss against Elk Grove on the 4th. As for Sacred Heart Cathedral Preparatory, they will square off against Archbishop Riordan at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
