St. John barely beat St. Stephen's Episcopal the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Mavericks put the hurt on the Spartans with a sharp 3-0 win on Thursday. The Mavericks haven't had any issues with the Spartans recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive victory against them.

The final score came out to 25-12, 25-18, 25-14.

St. John's found their leader in sophomore Sammie Berzin, who had 11 digs.

St. John's was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 13 aces. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as St. Stephen's Episcopal only served six.

St. Stephen's Episcopal's loss came despite strong showings from Katherine Oehler and Sydney Gray. Oehler had five digs and three aces, while Gray had nine digs. Oehler has been hot recently, having posted three or more aces the last three times she's played.

St. John's win bumped their record up to 24-15. As for St. Stephen's Episcopal, their defeat was their eighth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 14-25.

St. John's does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for St. Stephen's Episcopal, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 3-1 victory against Duchesne Academy of the Sacred Heart on the 7th.
