Basketball Recap: Make It Three in a Row for Des Moines

Des Moines had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 20 points) and they went ahead and made it three on Thursday. They strolled past the Springer Red Devils with points to spare, taking the game 69-53. That's the fourth time they've managed to beat them this season, with their most recent victory being a 60-48 win last Tuesday.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Des Moines to victory, but perhaps none more so than Rylan Brown, who posted 17 points in addition to six assists and six boards. Brown is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed three or more in each of the last ten games she's played. Jadyn Atwater was another key player, dropping a double-double with 17 points and 13 rebounds.

Des Moines smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds every time they've taken the court this season.

Des Moines pushed their record up to 19-7 with the win, which was their third straight at home. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 65.7 points over those games. As for Springer, the loss snapped their winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 19-9 record.
