League recap: East Lincoln extends winning streak with victory over Bandys

2A Conference 3 recap November 19, 2013

Adding to the longest winning streak in 2A Conference 3 this week, East Lincoln beat Bandys 35-27. The victory was the eighth in a row for the Mustangs.

Maiden took down Forbush 35-0 last week, the largest margin of any game. Jake McRee threw for 217 yards and 5 touchdowns and ran for 31 yards during the win.

He went 13-18 with 0 interceptions.

McRee put up the best numbers in passing as the Blue Devils bested the Falcons. McRee's favorite target this week was Justus Woods, who caught 4 passes for 103 yards.

Maiden's McRee and Woods led the league in both passing and receiving yards. 5-11 quarterback McRee has thrown for 2,707 yards this season, while Woods has 39 catches for 719 yards. East Lincoln's Chaz Surratt leads the league in rushing yards with 1,108.

Two of the top teams in the league will go toe-to-toe this week when Frank Snider's team takes on Mike Byus' team. The Blue Devils' offense has scored 420 points this season, good for No. 1 in the league, while the Mustangs have allowed only 159 on the year.

An important game coming up in 2A Conference 3 this week will be when Maiden takes on East Lincoln. As it stands, the Blue Devils are in first, while the Mustangs are in third.

The top two defenses in the league will face off this season when Maiden takes on East Lincoln. The Blue Devils have allowed 190 points this season, while the Mustangs have given up 159. Maiden allowed 0 points last week as it defeated Forbush.

Bunker Hill and Ashe County played the most contested game in the league this week, with Bunker Hill eventually emerging with a 20-17 victory.
