Football Game Preview: Minatare Indians vs. Cody-Kilgore Cowboys/Cowgirls

Minatare is 1-9 against Cody-Kilgore since October of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Indians will challenge the Cowboys/Cowgirls at 1:00 p.m. Minatare has given up an average of 52.7 points per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Minatare fought the good fight in their overtime game against Hay Springs on Thursday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They took a blow against the Hawks, falling 64-21. The Indians were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 50-0.

Although Minatare took the loss, they still got scores from Izaiah Lowery, Waryck Newlin, and Hunter Poor Bear.

Meanwhile, Cody-Kilgore came up short against Sioux County on Friday and fell 36-28. Even though they lost, the Cowboys/Cowgirls' still made a splash on offense and bumped their average scoring up to 26.1 points per game (they're now ranked -1th in scoring overall).

Minatare will need to focus on slowing down Kaden McNare, one of several Cody-Kilgore players who made an impact when they last played. He picked up 117 receiving yards and one score, and also rushed for 43 yards and one TD. McNare was even better on defense, forcing two fumbles and making 17 total tackles in addition to snagging an interception. Another player making a difference was Knox Wobig, who gained 164 total yards and a touchdown.

Minatare's defeat dropped their record down to 1-6. As for Cody-Kilgore, their loss dropped their record down to an identical 1-6.

Minatare was taken down by Cody-Kilgore 92-12 when the teams last played back in October of 2024. Thankfully for the Indians, Tristan Fish (who rushed for 56 yards and one touchdown, and also picked up 30 receiving yards and one score) won't be suiting up this time.
