Baseball Recap: Madonna Extends Home Winning Streak to Eight

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Madonna). They blew past the Trinity Christian Warriors 17-4 on Monday. The result was nothing new for the Blue Dons, who have now won five games by nine runs or more so far this season.

Reno Fuscardo made a splash while hitting and pitching. He pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one hit in three consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

In other batting news, Jacob Lazear was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Kaiden Wells, who went 3-for-4 with four RBI and one double.

Madonna hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their strikeout total in four consecutive matches.

Madonna pushed their record up to 6-2 with the victory, which was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average this season. As for Trinity Christian, their loss dropped their record down to 6-4.

Looking ahead, Madonna will venture away from home to take on Clay-Battelle at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Blue Dons' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Cee-Bees have averaged an impressive 7.2 runs per game this season. As for Trinity Christian, they will host Magnolia at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
