Football Recap: Central City Beats Broken Bow for Their Eighth Straight Victory

Central City extended their winning streak to eight on Friday, bumping them up to 8-0. They took down the Broken Bow Indians 34-20. Give the Bison's offense some serious credit: that high-scoring performance was actually the fewest points they've scored all season.

Central City had a senior duo take command as Wyatt Dent picked up 258 receiving yards and three touchdowns and Parker Zikmund threw for 388 yards and four TDs while completing 82.6% of his passes. With that strong performance, Dent is now averaging an impressive 110.5 receiving yards per game.

As for Broken Bow, their loss dropped their record down to 3-5. While losing is never fun, they can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Nebraska football rankings (they are ranked 73rd, while Central City is ranked ninth).

When it comes to explaining why Broken Bow lost, don't look at Aidan Markham. Despite the final result, he rushed for 170 yards and one score. Markham showed off some serious burst, cutting through the defense on one rush that went for 61 yards.

Coming up, Central City will square off against Aurora at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Bison will need to watch out since the Huskies have now posted at least 31 points in their last five contests. As for Broken Bow, they will challenge Gothenburg on Friday. The Swedes' defense has only allowed 9.2 points per game this season, so the Indians' offense will have their work cut out for them.
