Football Game Preview: Mineral County Serpents vs. Eureka Vandals

For the second week in a row, Mineral County is taking on Eureka. The Serpents will be playing in front of their home fans against the Vandals at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Mineral County knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 31 points or more in their past seven contests -- so hopefully Eureka likes a good challenge.

Mineral County is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Nevada's top teams: Eureka, who was ranked seventh at the time (Mineral County was ranked third). The Serpents breezed past the Vandals to the tune of 42-2 on Thursday. The result was nothing new for the Serpents, who have now won seven games by 30 points or more so far this season.

Mineral County's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Chase Reeves, who threw for 351 yards and five TDs while completing 95% of his passes. The dominant performance also gave Reeves a new career-high in passer rating (172.9). Mineral County's leading receiver Quentin Isom was Reeves' top target yet again, picking up 173 receiving yards and a pair of scores.

Mineral County's victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-1. Those home wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 9.6 points on average over those games. As for Eureka, with the defeat, they broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 4-5.
