After each having a week off, the Father Lopez Green Wave and the Carrollwood Day Patriots will shake off the rust and duke it out at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Father Lopez will roll into the matchup after a wild two-game stretch: they didn't score any points back in October, then bounced right back against Taylor two weeks ago. The Green Wave blew past the Wildcats 42-13. The score at the end of the third wound up being the final score as the Green Wave just coasted through the last quarter.

Father Lopez's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Colt Davis, who threw for 151 yards and two TDs on only 13 passes, and also punched in one touchdown on the ground. Davis' passing game has become a key predictor of the Green Wave's success: the team is undefeated when his passer rating is 100 or higher, but only 3-4 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Shipley Rosenberg, who rushed for 103 yards and one score on only five carries.
Father Lopez was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 233 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, Carrollwood Day put another one in the bag two weeks ago to keep their perfect season alive. They claimed a resounding 47-13 victory over Spanish River. The final result isn't all that surprising considering the Patriots' considerable advantage in MaxPreps' Florida football rankings (they are ranked 28th, while the Sharks are ranked 189th).
Father Lopez better focus on containing Kameron Battle and Myles Mcdonald as the pair were huge in Carrollwood Day's win. Battle gained 214 total yards and two touchdowns, while Mcdonald threw for 306 yards and a pair of touchdowns. Battle is also crushing it when it comes to rushing yards: he's rushed for at least 101 every time he's taken the field this season. 106 of Mcdonald's passing yards were hauled in by DJ WIlliams.
Carrollwood Day didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of DeMarcus VanDyke and James Allen. Carrollwood Day received some extra help from Max Richardson, whose fumble return for a touchdown made for one of the most unforgettable moments.
Father Lopez's record is now 6-4. As for Carrollwood Day, their record now sits at 9-0.
Friday's game might be decided on the ground. Father Lopez has been excellent on the ground this season, having averaged 163.4 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Carrollwood Day struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 303.8 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's contest turns into a tough fight on the ground. Check MaxPreps after the action for a full breakdown of the game and more football content.
