Basketball Recap: Miami Beach Comes Up Short

Miami Beach lost against Mater Lakes Academy back in December of 2019 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Miami Beach Hi-Tides took a blow against the Mater Lakes Academy Bears, falling 88-61. While losing is never fun, the Hi-Tides can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 386th, while the Bears are ranked 142nd).

Mater Lakes Academy found their leader in freshman Tai Bell, who dropped a double-double on 31 points and 11 boards. The match was Bell's ninth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Khanye Moss, who posted 17 points along with five assists and five rebounds.

Miami Beach dropped their record down to 8-12 with the loss, which was their fourth straight on the road. As for Mater Lakes Academy, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 10-13.

Miami Beach has already played their next contest, a 75-45 defeat against Southridge on the 31st. As for Mater Lakes Academy, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 79-57 win against American Heritage on the 3rd.
