Football Game Preview: Gainesville Red Elephants vs. Dunwoody Wildcats

Two dominant backs in NIGEL NEWKIRK and Cameron Irastorza are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. After both having extra time off, the Gainesville Red Elephants and the Dunwoody Wildcats will shake off the cobwebs and hit the field against one another at 7:30 p.m. on the 14th. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this game.

Gainesville heads into the contest have just come up short against nationally ranked Roswell (Gainesville was ranked 45th at the time). The Red Elephants fell in a 37-35 heartbreaker to the Hornets. The Red Elephants' defeat signaled the end of their five-game winning streak.

Gainesville might have lost, but man, KHARIM HUGHLEY was a machine: he threw for 248 yards and two TDs while picking up 10.8 yards per attempt, and also rushed for 36 yards and one score. PHILIP WILLIAMS was HUGHLEY's top target, picking up 108 receiving yards and one touchdown.

Meanwhile, Dunwoody's game on Thursday was all tied up 14-14 at the half, but sadly for them it didn't stay that way. They fell 28-21 to Shiloh. While the Wildcats didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Generals 7-0 in the first quarter.

Dunwoody's loss dropped their record down to 5-5. As for Gainesville, their defeat was their first in the region, dropping their region record down to 5-1 and their overall record down to 8-2.
