Two dominant backs in Alijah Sheppard and Hudson Sweitzer are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Gabrielino Eagles will take on the Trinity Classical Academy Knights at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Gabrielino is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 31.4 points per game this season.

Gabrielino is headed into the game out to prove that what happened against El Monte on Thursday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. The Eagles were dealt a 42-14 loss at the hands of the Lions. The last quarter was a mere formality, since the game's final score was reached by the end of the third quarter.

Gabrielino might have lost, but man, Marelle Moore Jr. was a machine: he rushed for 82 yards and a pair of touchdowns, and also picked up 38 receiving yards. Moore Jr. was no stranger to the big play, taking off on a dash that went for 53 yards.

Meanwhile, Trinity Classical Academy unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak on Thursday. They lost 35-14 to Santa Rosa Academy.

Gabrielino will have to contain Andrew Carlson as he made an impact in Trinity Classical Academy's last game. He threw for 117 yards and one TD on only 11 passes, and also rushed for 32 yards. Carlson's passing game has become a key predictor of Trinity Classical Academy's success: the team is 3-1 when his passer rating is 100 or higher, but only 2-3 otherwise.

Gabrielino's record now sits at 7-3. As for Trinity Classical Academy, their defeat was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 4-1 and their overall record down to 5-4.

Friday's contest might be decided on the ground. Gabrielino has been excellent on the ground this season, having averaged 173.3 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Trinity Classical Academy struggles in that department as they've been averaging 226.3 rushing yards.
