Mescalero Apache is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of New Mexico's top teams: Tatum, who was ranked sixth at the time (Mescalero Apache was ranked 21st). The Chiefs were dealt a 52-6 loss at the hands of the Coyotes on Friday. The Chiefs were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 44-6.

Meanwhile, after soaring to 52 points the game before, Ramah was a bit more limited in their game on Friday. They fell 20-8 to Alamo Navajo.

Mescalero Apache's defeat dropped their record down to 1-7. As for Ramah, their loss was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 2-5.
