Volleyball Recap: Northport Mustangs vs. Valley Christian Panthers

Northport and Valley Christian squared off in some playoff action on Thursday, but Northport had to settle for second. They fell 3-1 to the Panthers. The Mustangs were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Panthers apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in November of 2019.

While Northport ultimately came up short, they really made Valley Christian work, particularly in the first set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 27-25, 25-23, 21-25, 25-15.

Several Mustangs players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Kate Beardslee, who had 19 digs, nine kills, and three aces. Beardslee is on a roll when it comes to kills, as she's now had five or more in each of the last 16 games she's played dating back to last season. Another player making a difference was Kylie Colton, who had 22 digs and one assist.

Northport's defeat dropped their record down to 12-4. As for Valley Christian, they have been performing well recently as they've won seven of their last nine matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-6 record this season.

Northport didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 3-0 victory against Cusick on the 30th.
