Volleyball Recap: Dynamic Duo of Ali Maddux and Natalie Petty Lead Hillcrest to Victory

Hillcrest waltzed into their match on Friday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They put the hurt on the Century Diamondbacks with a sharp 3-0 victory. While the Knights didn't have the best season last year (they finished 15-22), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

Hillcrest was especially dominant in the first set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-9, 25-19, 25-18.

Leading Hillcrest to victory were Natalie Petty and Ali Maddux. Petty had 19 assists and eight digs, while Maddux had 17 digs and five assists. That's the most digs Maddux has posted over her last 12 contests.

Hillcrest was lethal from the service line and finished the game with 11 aces. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their ace total in three consecutive games.

Hillcrest's win bumped their record up to 11-2. As for Century, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-7 record this season.

Coincidentally, Hillcrest and Century will both be playing Centennial the next time they take the court. The Diamondbacks will head out to face the Patriots at 5:30 p.m. on Friday, while the Knights will play them later in the day, at 6:30 p.m.
