While North Yarmouth Academy's win against Sacopee Valley wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Panthers narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past the Hawks 14-12. The win continues a trend for the Panthers in their matchups with the Hawks: they've now won four in a row.
Mia Desgrosseilliers was a standout: she went 3-for-5 with two runs, two RBI, and one double. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Caroline Matusovich, who went 1-for-4 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run.
They weren't the only ones making solid contact: North Yarmouth Academy kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 17 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in three consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask St. Dominic). They blew past Mount Abram 19-12 on Tuesday. The Saints might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven matches by seven runs or more this season.
Madeline Andrews made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing four innings while giving up just one earned (and five unearned) runs off five hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.
In other batting news, St. Dominic got a massive performance out of Olivia Tapley, who got on base in three of her five plate appearances with four runs and one stolen base. Sophia Franciose was another key player, going 3-for-5 with three RBI, one run, and one double.
North Yarmouth Academy's victory bumped their record up to 10-2. As for St. Dominic, their win bumped their record up to 9-3.
Both the two teams just can't seem to miss. North Yarmouth Academy has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 11.6 hits per game. However, it's not like St. Dominic struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 5.3 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
