Baseball Game Preview: Carmel Christian Cougars vs. Christ School Greenies

The Carmel Christian Cougars will head out on the road to face off against the Christ School Greenies at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Carmel Christian is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.2 runs per game this season.

Carmel Christian will roll into the game after a wild two-game stretch: they only put up one run on Saturday, then bounced right back against Caldwell Academy on Thursday. The Cougars came out on top against the Eagles by a score of 10-5.

Matthew Abbott looked comfortable as he tossed four innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. He has become a key player for Carmel Christian: the team is undefeated when he allows at most two earned runs, but 4-5 otherwise.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Caden Tarr, who fired off two home runs, six RBI, and three runs while going 2-for-3. Those six RBI gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Nate Trunck, who scored a run while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Carmel Christian lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post two or more home runs.

Meanwhile, neither Christ School nor Southside Christian could gain the upper hand on Wednesday so the two teams had to settle for a 5-5 tie.

Carmel Christian's record is now 7-5. With that tie, Christ School's record moves to 4-9-1.

Carmel Christian took their win against Christ School when the teams last played back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 7-1 score. Will the Cougars repeat their success, or do the Greenies have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
