Recap: Shelby Whippets vs. River Valley Vikings
The Shelby Whippets won the last time they faced the River Valley Vikings, and things went their way on Thursday too. Shelby came out on top against River Valley by a score of 42-32. Given Shelby's advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 96th, while River Valley is ranked 344th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Despite the loss, River Valley still got an impressive performance from Lexie Hecker, who scored 14 points. Those 14 points set a new season-high mark for her.
The victory makes it two in a row for Shelby and bumps their season record up to 6-1. As for River Valley, their loss was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 2-3.
Shelby will take on Clear Fork at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday. River Valley will be home for the holidays to greet Highland at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday. Hopefully Highland focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 14 on Thursday.
