Football Game Preview: Central Valley Christian Cavaliers vs. Reedley Pirates + Official Tickets

The Central Valley Christian Cavaliers will head out on the road to challenge the Reedley Pirates at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Reedley took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Central Valley Christian, who comes in off a win.

Central Valley Christian took a loss when they played away from home last Friday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Friday. They managed a 21-17 victory over Washington Union. The Cavaliers haven't had any issues with the Panthers recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive win against them.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Central Valley Christian to victory, but perhaps none more so than Ja'Khari Burrell, who rushed for 104 yards and one touchdown. Burrell has become a key player for the Cavaliers: the team is 3-1 when he posts at least 80 rushing yards, but 0-5 otherwise.

Wins are hard to come by when you can't run the rock, something Central Valley Christian proved: they limited Washington Union to a paltry two yards per carry. The Cavaliers didn't have any issues in that department, having averaged 6.3.

Central Valley Christian didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Austin Reed and Christian Jones.

Meanwhile, Reedley was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They were outmatched by Kingsburg and fell 44-13. While losing is never fun, the Pirates can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California football rankings (they are ranked 516th, while the Vikings are ranked 197th).

Reedley's loss dropped their record down to 5-4. As for Central Valley Christian, their victory bumped their record up to 3-6.

Everything came up roses for Central Valley Christian against Reedley in their previous matchup back in November of 2024, as the squad secured a 56-21 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Cavaliers since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
