Softball Game Preview: Brecksville-Broadview Heights Bees vs. Highland Hornets

The Brecksville-Broadview Heights Bees will head out on the road to challenge the Highland Hornets at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Brecksville-Broadview Heights knows how to get runs on the board -- the team has finished with ten runs or more in their past five matches -- so hopefully Highland likes a good challenge.

Brecksville-Broadview Heights' hitters will try to repeat the strong performance they gave on Monday, when they got past North Royalton's usually-dominant pitching crew. The Bees came out on top against the Bears by a score of 12-7.

Tess Cozza made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing six innings while giving up three earned runs off eight hits. Those hits marked the first that she allowed this season. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with four RBI, one stolen base, and one run. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April of 2024.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Gianna Dasenbrook, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last four games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Caiya La, who scored three runs while going 1-for-4.

Meanwhile, Highland fought the good fight in their extra-innings contest against Tallmadge on Wednesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They came up short against the Blue Devils, falling 20-6. While the Hornets didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Blue Devils 6-1 in the first period.

Highland has been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-6 record this season. As for Brecksville-Broadview Heights, their record now sits at 5-1.
