Baseball Recap: Caston Has No Trouble Against Culver Community

Caston had won three straight on the road, but on Thursday they bumped their record up to 9-3 to make it four. Everything went their way against the Culver Community Cavaliers as they made off with a 17-1 victory. The win continues a trend for the Comets in their matchups with the Cavaliers: they've now won nine in a row.

Carson Harness made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 11 batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits (and only one walk). He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with three runs and three RBI. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April of 2024.

In other batting news, Logan Mollenkopf was a standout: he went 4-for-5 with four stolen bases, four runs, and one double. Those four hits gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Tucker Woolever, who went 3-for-4 with five RBI, two runs, and one stolen base.

Caston was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .450. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Culver Community only posted a batting average of .125.

As for Culver Community, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-6. They have struggled against Caston recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive lost meeting.

On Culver Community's side, Jonas McCuen was cooking despite his team's loss, going 1-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Caston beat the Cavaliers by a score of 5-4 on Friday.
