Basketball Recap: St. John's Catholic Prep Comes Up Short

St. John's Catholic Prep lost against John Carroll back in February of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The St. John's Catholic Prep Vikings came up short against the John Carroll Patriots, falling 63-40. While losing is never fun, the Vikings can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Maryland basketball rankings (they are ranked 126th, while the Patriots are ranked 30th).

When it comes to explaining why St. John's Catholic Prep lost, don't look at Samantha Shively. Despite the final result, she posted 28 points and eight rebounds. Shively is on a roll when it comes to boards, as she's now pulled down eight or more in the last 17 games she's played. Olivia Bolduc was another key player, putting up nine points along with six assists and six rebounds.

This is the second loss in a row for St. John's Catholic Prep and nudges their season record down to 7-15. As for John Carroll, they pushed their record up to 15-5-2 with the win, which was their seventh straight at home.

St. John's Catholic Prep does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for John Carroll, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Notre Dame Prep at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday.
