Baseball Recap: Westlake Gets the Win

Westlake came out on top against Herriman on Monday thanks in part to the team's impressive five-run fifth inning. The Thunder had just enough and edged out the Mustangs 8-7. The victory continues a trend for the Thunder in their matchups with the Mustangs: they've now won three in a row.

Westlake got a great performance from Joe Jackson as he pitched 4.2 innings while giving up just one earned run off five hits. The Thunder are 2-1 when Jackson allows one or fewer earned runs, but 7-13 otherwise.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Efrain Garcia, who went 3-for-4 with three runs, one triple, and two RBI. He has become a key player for Westlake: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 7-13 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Teegan Adams, who went 1-for-3 with one home run.

Westlake's record is now 9-14. As for Herriman, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-17.

Westlake will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Mustangs: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
