Football Recap: Mechanicsburg Takes a Loss

Mechanicsburg dropped down to 10-2 on Friday, ending the team's seven-game streak of wins. They were beaten by the Bishop McDevitt Crusaders 47-7. The Wildcats lost against the Crusaders in their previous head to head back in November of 2024, too, but the margin this time around was even wider than the 26-14 score last time.

As for Bishop McDevitt, their victory was their 12th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 9-2. Those home wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 12.5 points on average over those games.

Maurice Barnes Jr. was nothing short of spectacular: he rushed for 63 yards and three scores on only seven carries. Those three rushing touchdowns gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Sebastian Williams, who rushed for 35 yards and one TD.

Mechanicsburg does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Bishop McDevitt, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Exeter Township at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Crusaders will need to watch out since the Eagles have now posted at least 31 points in their last three matchups.
