Basketball Recap: Elm Creek Skates Past Bertrand with Ease

Elm Creek won the last time they faced Bertrand and things went their way on Tuesday too. The Elm Creek Buffaloes breezed by the Bertrand Vikings to the tune of 58-18. The Buffaloes have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won four matchups by 26 points or more this season.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Elm Creek to victory, but perhaps none more so than Kendal Cavenee, who posted nine points along with seven assists and six steals. Cavenee has been hot for a while, having posted two or more steals the last 11 times she's played. Ryann Erickson was another key player, dropping a double-double on 11 points and 13 boards.

Elm Creek smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 25 offensive boards. That's the most offensive rebounds they've posted since back in January of 2024.

Elm Creek's victory was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-1. As for Bertrand, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-5 record this season.

Elm Creek will square off against St. Patrick's at 6:00 p.m. on January 7th. Elm Creek knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past three contests -- so hopefully St. Patrick's likes a good challenge. As for Bertrand, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 51-49 win against Wauneta-Palisade on the 3rd.
