Baseball Recap: Monte Vista's Losing Streak Is a Thing of the Past

Monte Vista and Dougherty Valley pushed the score to 14-6 the last time they played Dougherty Valley, but on Wednesday defenses reigned supreme. The Mustangs never let the Wildcats get on the board and left with a 1-0 victory. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Mustangs as it put an end to their four-game losing streak.

Monte Vista got a great performance from Ethan Smith as he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out eight over six innings pitched. Smith has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in seven consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Tony Keeling, who went 1-for-2 with one home run.
