Laguna Acoma was handed a six-run defeat in their previous outing, but that didn't affect their clutch gene on Saturday. They skirted past Espanola Valley 6-5.

Meanwhile, Tuesday just wasn't the day for Newcomb's offense. They came up short against Kirtland Central on Tuesday, falling 20-0.

Laguna Acoma's win bumped their record up to 3-1. As for Newcomb, their loss dropped their record down to 0-2.
