Recap: San Tan Charter Roadrunners vs. Fossil Ridge Sabercats
The San Tan Charter Roadrunners have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won eight contests by 23 points or more this season. They were the clear victor by a 84-61 margin over Fossil Ridge. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead San Tan Charter to victory, but perhaps none more so than Zaire Richardson, who scored 16 points. The match was Richardson's fourth in a row with at least ten points. Peyton Lubash was another key contributor, scoring 18 points.
Several Sabercats players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Walker Shields, who scored 14 points. Shields also grabbed two steals for the first time this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Sean Purvis, who scored ten points along with seven rebounds.
Even though they lost, Fossil Ridge were working as a unit and finished the game with 14 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as San Tan Charter only posted four assists.
San Tan Charter has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven contests, which provided a nice bump to their 9-2 record this season. As for Fossil Ridge, their loss was their third straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 5-3.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. San Tan Charter and San Carlos will face off at 7:00 p.m. on December 15th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. San Carlos knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past five contests -- so hopefully San Tan Charter likes a good challenge. Fossil Ridge and Loveland will face off at 6:30 p.m. on December 19th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday.
