Football Game Preview: Bristow Pirates vs. Perkins-Tryon Demons

The Bristow Pirates are taking a road trip to take on the Perkins-Tryon Demons at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Bristow will be strutting in after a victory while Perkins-Tryon will be coming in after a loss.

Having struggled with three defeats in a row, Bristow turned things around against McLoud on Thursday. They blew past the Redskins 48-14. The matchup was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 35-0.

Promised Johnson and Shane Bethel were among the main playmakers for Bristow as the former rushed for 89 yards and one TD on only nine carries and the latter rushed for 111 yards and a pair of scores on only 11 carries. Johnson's passing game has become a key predictor of the Pirates' success: the team is 2-1 when his passer rating is 100 or higher, but only 1-4 otherwise.

Meanwhile, after a string of three wins, Perkins-Tryon's good fortune finally ran out on Thursday. They took a 24-14 hit to the loss column at the hands of Lone Grove.

Bristow will have to contain Wyatt Atkinson as he made an impact in Perkins-Tryon's last game. He rushed for 187 yards and a pair of touchdowns while picking up 10.4 yards per carry. Atkinson also put in work on the defensive side of the ball, picking up a sack and making five total tackles (3.0 for loss).

Perkins-Tryon's loss dropped their record down to 5-3. As for Bristow, their win bumped their record up to 3-5.

Bristow came up short against Perkins-Tryon when the teams last played back in November of 2024, falling 42-35. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of the Demons' Beau Gravitt, who rushed for 47 yards and two scores, and also threw for 206 yards and a pair of TDs while completing 76.5% of his passes. Now that the Pirates know the damage he can cause, will they be able to stop him this time? There's only one way to find out.
