Preview: Davie War Eagles vs. West Forsyth Titans

The Davie War Eagles will be playing in front of their home fans against the West Forsyth Titans at 7:45 p.m. on Tuesday. Davie has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 1,045 points over their last 15 games.

Even though R.J. Reynolds scored an imposing 56 points on Friday, Davie still came out on top. Davie took their match against R.J. Reynolds 65-56. Given Davie's advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 25th, while R.J. Reynolds is ranked 221st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Davie's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Jackson Powers, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 12 rebounds, and Bryson Mickey, who shot 4-for-5 from long range and dropped a double-double on 19 points and 11 rebounds. Powers is on a roll when it comes to blocks, as he's now posted two or more in the last seven games he's played. Coleman Lawhon was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with three steals.

Meanwhile, West Forsyth unfortunately witnessed the end of their six-game winning streak on Friday. They took a 63-59 hit to the loss column at the hands of Mount Tabor. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.

Davie pushed their record up to 15-0 with that victory, which was their seventh straight at home. As for West Forsyth, their defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 13-3.

Davie came up short against West Forsyth in their previous meeting back in February of 2023, falling 66-56. Can Davie avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
