Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Long Beach Poly). They simply couldn't be stopped on Friday as they easily beat the Lakewood Lancers 47-20 at home. Given the Jackrabbits' advantage in MaxPreps' California football rankings (they are ranked 41st, while the Lancers are ranked 135th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

On the defensive side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Long Beach Poly's defense and their five sacks. Leading the way was Jaden Hernandez with 3.5.

Despite the loss, Lakewood still got an impressive performance from Kade Casillas, who threw for 202 yards and a touchdown, and also rushed for 67 yards on only nine carries. Cecil Xavier Smith was Casillas' top target, picking up 96 receiving yards and a touchdown.

The win made it two in a row for Long Beach Poly and bumps their season record up to 2-3. As for Lakewood, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-3 record this season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Long Beach Poly will take on Mission Viejo at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
