Volleyball Recap: Thursday's Victory Is Purvis' 23rd in Last 26 Outings

Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Purvis walked away with it. They were the clear victors by a 3-0 margin over the East Central Hornets on Thursday. That's the third time they've managed to beat them this season, with their most recent win being a 3-1 victory back in September.

Not only was the match a shutout, it was a big one: Purvis took every set by at least 11 points. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-14, 25-10, 25-12.

Olivia Lewis paced Purvis' offense, picking up nine kills. Lewis got some help from Presley Long and her 20 assists. Long was also solid from the service line: she led the team with three aces.

Purvis has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 23 of their last 26 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 32-6 record this season. As for East Central, they moved to 20-20 with that loss, which also ended their three-match winning streak.

Coming up, Purvis will head out on the road to face off against Sumrall at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. East Central does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
