Basketball Recap: Joy Hunt and Carli Nunez Secure Win for Centennial

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Sandia, Centennial was happy to have turned things around on Thursday. They blew past the Artesia Bulldogs 59-39. That's more bragging rights for the Hawks, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Centennial was led to victory by Carli Nunez and Joy Hunt. Nunez went 8 of 11 en route to 18 points and five steals, while Hunt went 5 of 12 on her way to 12 points along with four blocks and three steals. What's more, Hunt also racked up three assists, the most she's had since back in December of 2023. Rizaya Cash was another key player, putting up nine points.

The victory got Centennial back to even at 2-2. As for Artesia, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-3.

Centennial has already played their next match, a 47-43 loss against Albuquerque Academy on the 13th. As for Artesia, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 60-40 win against Atrisco Heritage Academy on the 13th.
