Baseball Recap: Benzie Central Comes Up Short

Benzie Central had lost seven straight at home, but on Saturday they dropped down to 9-17 to make it eight. They came up short against the St. Francis Gladiators, falling 15-0. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against the Gladiators this season, with their most recent defeat being a 21-0 loss on May 14th.

As for St. Francis, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 29-5-1 record this season. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 23 games by six runs or more this season.

For St. Francis' part, Lanse Vos made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). Vos has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with one triple and one RBI. What's more, he posted two hits, the most he's had over his last 12 contests.

As of now, neither Benzie Central nor St. Francis have any future games scheduled.
