Volleyball Recap: Florence Snags Ninth Victory in Last 11 Games

It's playoff time, and Florence had no trouble coming through when it counted. They walked away with a 3-1 win over the Suring Eagles on Thursday. That's more bragging rights for the Bobcats, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

The match finished with set scores of 25-18, 20-25, 25-19, 25-16.

Florence was led to victory by Ashley Peterson and Miley VanDenHeuvel. Peterson had seven digs and two aces, while VanDenHeuvel had 11 kills, 11 digs, four blocks, and two aces. That's the most kills VanDenHeuvel has posted since October 4th.

They weren't the only good servers: Florence was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 12 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least ten aces in three consecutive contests.

Florence has been performing well recently as they've won nine of their last 11 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 30-14 record this season. As for Suring, their defeat ended a nine-match streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 22-8.

Florence didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 3-1 victory against Central Wisconsin Christian on the 1st. Suring does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
