Softball Recap: Aucilla Christian Wins Going Away Against Lafayette

Aucilla Christian came out on top against Lafayette on Tuesday thanks in part to the team's impressive five-run first inning. The Warriors blew past the Hornets 10-3. Considering the Warriors have won five games by more than six runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Makayla Kelly spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and one unearned) runs on nine hits.

At the plate, Aucilla Christian let Avery Emerick and Harli Ray run wild. Emerick went 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs, while Ray went 3-for-4 with two doubles, two RBI, and one run. That's the most RBI Emerick has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Ava Surles, who went 1-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Aucilla Christian kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They are 5-1 when they post 11 or more hits.

The victory made it two in a row for Aucilla Christian and bumps their season record up to 5-7. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.5 runs over those games. As for Lafayette, they have been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last eight contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 10-12 record this season.

As of now, neither Aucilla Christian nor Lafayette have any future games scheduled.
