Basketball Recap: Beardstown Comes Up Short

Beardstown has been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They had to suffer through a 62-28 loss at the hands of the Liberty Eagles. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Tigers have suffered against the Eagles since November 23, 2019.

Leading Liberty to victory were Chandler John and Weslee John. Chandler shot 50% from the field to rack up 13 points along with five assists and three steals, while Weslee went 5-for-9 on her way to 11 points in addition to six assists and three steals. Weslee is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in each of the last six games she's played. Claire Obert was another key player, going 5-for-9 en route to 10 points and seven rebounds.

Beardstown's defeat dropped their record down to 9-5. As for Liberty, they pushed their record up to 10-1 with the win, which was their third straight on the road.

Beardstown wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 49-34 loss against Canton on the 27th. As for Liberty, they have also already played their next contest, a 54-24 defeat against Hamilton/Warsaw on the 27th.
